One of the great things about this book - and I mean great as in great novels, great novelists - is the character descriptions. I'm not normally much of a one for descriptive writing, but these are gems. Reading A Glastonbury Romance is like walking around an art gallery - nothing special, nothing special ... WOW! Look at that! Then a few more pages of nothing special followed by another piece of writing such as you have never come across before. You know a masterpiece, something quite out of the ordinary, when you see it - or read it.
